Thank You Family Video for a wonderful Adoption Event!!

January 19th, 2012

We loved being at Family Video in Austintown last Saturday!  We adopted some kitties, sold some yummy kitty cookies and had some raffle tickets purchased for the Kat Kabin.  Smoochie got to meet and greet her fans and new people as well.  Thank you for everyone who stopped by to say hello and our special thanks to Family Video for hosting the event.

Dave

January 30th, 2012

Birthdate:  1/2/2005

Breed:  Domestic Shorthair

Color:  White

Gender:  Male

Dave is a very friendly and relaxed kind of cat.   Actually, the only real word for Dave is cool.  Dave is just – cool.  There’s no other word that fits him as exactly.

Dave was surrendered to the shelter because his owner was going into a nursing home and was not allowed to take Dave with her.  We guesstimate him at about 7 years old.  He likes to play, he likes to be petted and he likes to be with people.  If he was a person, you’d probably find him in a ’60′s Greenwich Village cafe, grooving on bad poetry and smoking way too many cigarettes.

Sugar

January 30th, 2012

Birthdate:  7/25/2011

Breed:  Domestic Shorthair

Color:  Brown Tabby & White

Gender:  Female

Cookie and her buddy Sugar were rescued by one of our volunteers after they attempted to break into his house.  Somebody had abandoned these two pretties in the January cold and all they wanted was to be inside.  And to be fed – for their first two days at the shelter these two girls did nothing but eat and sleep.

They have since added getting petted and purring to their list of favorite things to do.  Sugar is always up for playtime and greets new toys as enthusiastically as she used to greet food.  She also loves a good head scratching.  Crack a pull tab anywhere within earshot and she will be twining around your feet before the food hits her bowl!

Cookie

January 30th, 2012

Birthdate:  1/25/2011

Breed:  Brown Tabby & White

Color:  Brown

Gender:  Female

Cookie and her buddy Sugar were rescued by one of our volunteers after they attempted to break into his house.  Somebody had abandoned these two pretties in the January cold and all they wanted was to be inside.  And to be fed – for their first two days at the shelter these two girls did nothing but eat and sleep.

They have since added getting petted and purring to their list of favorite things to do.  Cookie is the quieter of the pair, she loves to lie on her warm blanket and will encourage you to pet her with gentle nudges of her nose.  A long session of petting will cause nonstop “happy feet” as she gazes at you with her big, beautiful eyes.

Cookie Dough Joe’s Big Adventure

January 30th, 2012

Our shelter is beautiful, but the building we are in is not new.  Before we moved in there were offices and store rooms here, meaning that the original designers did not have cats in mind.  When we renovated the building, there were some things – like the heating and air conditioning ducts – that were simply out of our price range to remove and replace.  Until recently, this was not a problem.

Enter the intrepid explorer, Cookie Dough Joe.  Saturday morning Joe managed to pry a duct cover out of the floor and take himself on a little expedition into hitherto undiscovered territory.  Imagine Joe’s surprise when he found himself underneath a whole other roomful of cats!  Joe was retrieved from the ventilation system with his white fur a beautiful shade of gray, but otherwise none the worse for wear.

The duct cover has since been fitted with a heavy weight, so unless Joe takes up power lifting, adventures beneath the floor should cease.  Hopefully Joe will find a forever home before he discovers how to lift the drop ceiling tiles!

Fergie

January 30th, 2012

Birthdate: 11/1/2008

Breed: DSH

Color: White

Gender: Female

What a sweetheart!  Fergie was at another shelter for over three months, yet somehow this bundle of purr kept getting overlooked.  Now she is busy greeting her new admirers at PetSmart in Niles.  Visit her soon, because a cat this friendly and beautiful will get adopted in an eyeblink.
